Women in the Media
According to Freire, a key to keeping the Object feeling like their oppression is natural and inevitable comes from other "successful" members of the Object class. Media plays a tremendous role in the election process these days. Women are enormously underrepresented in both media and government. In addition, the topics women cover when they are in front of the camera tend toward are lifestyle, issues, personal interest stories and other "soft" news.
